Buyable Pins Come to Desktop Pinterest
Buyable pins were introduced to desktop Pinterest users this week. Up until now, Buyable Pins were only visible on the mobile apps for both iOS and Android Pinterest Pinners.
Buyable Pins are items saved to a Pinterest boards. These items can be purchased online. What makes a Buyable Pin different from any other pin, is that the item can be saved to a Pinterest shopping cart and paid for with Pinterest’s app. Buyers do not have to click through to the seller’s website to make a purchase. Pinners can save multiple items from various vendors and pay for them through one transaction [Figure 1].
Buyable Pins are available only to Pinterest business accounts. Pinterest Buyable Pins were initially only available to larger online sellers. Now Pinterest Buyable Pins are available to approved sellers using certain major ecommerce platforms.
Buyable Pins are convenient for buyers because they do not have to leave to app to complete the transaction. Pinterest Buyable Pins are convenient for sellers since Pinterest helps drive traffic and does not collect any transaction fees!
