There may also be an issue with an account that is closely named but needs to be hidden to avoid confusion for a business. Whatever the reason, Pinterest users may need to either deactivate (hide) or close (delete your Pinterest.’
Pinterest recently released other useful features for brands including associating YouTube, Etsy, and Instagram accounts with a Pinterest account. This helps a brand acquire more followers and cross-platform attribution. Closing or deleting an account can affect the attribution associated with Pinterest Pins.
Pinterest settings give two options to handle deactivating and closing. Pinners can either temporarily hide their account plus all of their Pins and boards while retaining their Pinterest username. This is called deactivating and is a quick feature that can be turned on and off at the users’ choosing. Deactivating an account is useful for when users wish to take a break from Pinterest. It is possible to use this option for when you are just setting up a new account and it is not ready for public view. Pinterest Pinners could also set some or all of their boards to secret if you need to only hide your boards and not your entire account.

How Do I Delete Pinterest?
Deleting and closing your Pinterest forever is a much more severe action. It is permanent and removes all pins and boards. You also lose your username. Closing Pinterest is something to reconsider of you are a brand or business as it disrupts a marketing strategy. Once a user deactivates the account, it won’t be accessible anymore.
Pinners may want to simply deactivate an account instead and observe the affect it has on web traffic and sales. That way the account name is retained for branding purposes on Pinterest, even if you’ve decided not to use it anymore.

Closing a Pinterest account requires a few steps to complete. Once you choose to close your Pinterest, you’ll have to respond to an email confirmation. After you reply to that, there will be a fourteen-day waiting period. This serves as a cooling off period in case you change your mind. It also gives Pinterest users a chance to recover from a hacked or deleted account.
Pinterest business accounts need to take additional steps by filling out a form to request that the account be closed. This serves as a security measure.
