Pinterest announces new look for article pins

Today Pinterest announced in a blog post that it will be adding additional information to pins. The additional information will include headline, author, story description and link to the content. This seems like a strategic move to keep up with social networking rival Facebook and its Facebook’s Open Graph technology.

Although I could not find any of these new article pins they sound a lot like the rich pins Pinterest introduced for retailers in May. The engineering blog did not specify if writers will have to add meta tags to their website or if Pinterest has developed a technology to harvest this information.

In his blog post Jon Parise, Pinterest Software Engineer states, ” We’re always looking for ways to make pins more useful so that when you discover and pin something great…” Jon goes on to say he is currently pinning to pin now read later Pinterest pinboard.
