Pinterest Business accounts are a necessity for any brand or business that wants to use Pinterest as part of their marketing strategy. Pinterest has over 150 million users and recently made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The Pinterest IPO drove months of speculation and the social media giant proved that it is a good value that plays and important role in a digital marketing strategy. If you want to make money or drive traffic to your website, then you will need a Pinterest business account.

Pinterest for business is easy to set up. You will need to have a website set up to go with your Pinterest business account. You will also have to verify your website ownership with Pinterest and this is the most technical part of the setup process. If you have FTP access to your website, then getting the website verified is easy. If your website uses WordPress, then there are plugins that can help you add the verification tags to your site. It takes a minimal amount of technical skill and a few minutes to get up and running. You will also be able to connect you YouTube, Instagram, and Etsy accounts of you have those as well.

You will be able to reach a larger audience faster with Promoted Pins, even if you have a smaller organic following. With appealing and engaging content that is tailored to Pinterest users, you should be able to make money from Pinterest. This means you should have a Pinterest account, personal or business. You’ll need colorful Pins with all profile information completed. Pins should be organized into boards. All Pins and boards should be search engine optimized.

After you set up your Pinterest business account, you want to be sure you have a clear profile photo or your brand’s logo as a profile photo. If you already have a personal Pinterest account, you can convert it to a business account. This may be a good choice if you already have a large number of followers who are engaged with your brand or products. If you don’t want to convert your personal account to a Pinterest for business account, then you can open up a new one, and add your business details.

Remember, you can manage more than one account from using the Pinterest app. So, there is no need to worry about logging in and out of multiple accounts to save Pins to them. You will want to save Pins frequently and regularly to engage your audience and achieve your marketing goals.

Go to the Pinterest For Business page and sign up for an account. If you already have a personal account that you are using for your brand and want to use it for your business, you can convert it.

Create a New Pinterest Business Account

You can create a new account using desktop Pinterest or by downloading the Pinterest mobile app.

  1. Go to https://www.pinterest.com/
  2. Fill out your email and password
  3. Click Create account
  4. On the next screen choose your country and language
  5. Give your business profile a name (required)
  6. Choose your business type
  7. Enter the website you want to connect to this account
  8. Claim your Etsy, YouTube, Instagram accounts if you have them too

Pinterest will prompt you to choose some topics relevant to your account. You only have to choose one and you can come back to this later. You can just click through these and set them later. Even though you entered your website name in the setup process, you will still have to verify the website URL to associate it with your Pinterest.

Convert a Pinterest Personal Account to a Business Account – Desktop Pinterest

You can convert a Pinterest personal account to a business account using desktop Pinterest or the mobile app.

  1. Log in to your Pinterest account
  2. Click the three dots in the upper left corner of your screen
  3. Click Account settings
  4. Choose Convert to a Business Account
  5. Click Create account

Convert a Pinterest Personal Account to a Business Account – Mobile App

You can convert a Pinterest personal account to a business account using desktop Pinterest or the mobile app.

  1. Log in to your Pinterest account
  2. Tap your profile icon in the lower left corner of your screen
  3. Tap the gear hex in the upper left corner
  4. Tap Edit Settings
  5. Scroll down to the bottom section
  6. Choose Convert to a Business Account
  7. Click Create account

Is a Pinterest Business Account Free?

Pinterest business accounts are completely free. The only time you will pay for Pinterest is if you use Promoted Pins as part of a paid advertising campaign. Promoted Pins are Pinterest’s version of pay-per-click advertising. They are an optional part of Pinterest business accounts.
Even if you don’t use Promoted Pins, you will still be able to use the free analytics and other features that only work with business accounts. It wont cost you anything to use Pinterest for business.

How do I delete my Pinterest business account?

In the future, if you decide to revert back to a business account, it’s an easy click of a button in your settings menu. You may also hide or even delete both personal and business accounts.

Remember to add save buttons to your website and connect your YouTube, Etsy, and Instagram accounts if you have them. Pin on a regular basis and pay attention to your Pinterest and website analytics to see what is working best for you and your followers.
