Pinterest – Three Ways to Login to Your Account

Pinterest Three Ways to Login to Your Account

Pinterest has three ways to log in to an account to make it easy for users. Users always seem to be looking for help and how to get back into a Pinterest account when they’ve changed their email address or lost access to their account. Of all the questions I hear, “How to get back into my Pinterest account?” or “I forgot my password” or “How do I change my password or email address? are the most common. Like many social media apps, Pinterest offers users multiple ways to log in.

There are three convenient methods that you can use log into your Pinterest account – using your existing Google account, social login with Facebook, or with a standalone username and password. Generally, I like to set up any new account by using an email address and password and enable two-factor authentication, which I’ll discuss in a little bit. However, like many social media apps, Pinterest lets you use other social logins. So, if you’ve lost your password, you might have another way to get back into your Pinterest account. It all depends on how you set it up or settings changes you’ve made to your Pinterest.

When you initially set up your Pinterest account, you had the option to choose how to log in. Pinterest users can log in with a Google (Gmail) account , Facebook login, or choose to use a unique username and password combination. I usually choose username and password because I don’t want to find myself locked out of an account because it was dependent on something else. For example, if I set up my Pinterest using a social login from my Facebook credentials and I decided to close my Facebook or I lose access to it because it was hacked, then I could lose access to my Pinterest account.

Social media accounts are favorites of also hackers and there have been many high-profile account hacks where the legitimate owner has lost access. It’s possible that a hacker, or even someone you know, got into your Facebook. Then they can also get into your Pinterest if you used the Facebook login for Pinterest. If you’re a personal user, this might not seem like such an issue, but if you’re using Facebook and Pinterest for business, then losing control of the account and all your content would be devastating to your marketing strategy.

It’s convenient to use social logins. That way if you forget your Pinterest username and password, you have an alternate way to log into your Pinterest. If you have social logins from Facebook or Google set up, you’ll still be able to log into your Pinterest if you’re logged into either your Google account Gmail or Facebook.

Pinterest Login Method 1 – Pinterest Username and Password

Pinterest users can create and log into their accounts with a chosen username and password. I use this option because I want to have login credentials that are independent of any other account. Sharing login credentials across apps is not secure. So, I create all Pinterest accounts for my clients with a username and unique password. If I used the Google or Facebook login credentials that I explain next and lose access to that login information, I could lose access to my Pinterest too.

I maintain an independent method to log into my Pinterest, so the account is secure. Creating a username and password is easy to use you only have to click on the new account login and choose it. Remember, your Pinterest username is not the same as a display name. That’s the name that other Pinterest users will see on your profile.

Pinterest Login Method 2 – Pinterest Facebook Login

Pinterest users can also opt to use Facebook as a social login. This means that you connect Facebook with your Pinterest account and use those credentials to log in to Pinterest. With this option, if you’re logged into your Facebook account in a web browser or on your phone, you won’t have to remember another username or password for Pinterest. Convenient, but not secure especially with Facebook’s record or privacy concerns.

Anyone who has access to your Facebook credentials can also get into your Pinterest. If you use a Facebook social login for Pinterest and an authorized user gains access to your Facebook, they can also get into your Pinterest business account.

Pinterest Google Login

Pinterest Login Method 3 – Google Login for Pinterest

Pinterest users can use their Google credentials as their login information. Google login can also be added later on. The create account Pinterest dialogue will pop up a window so you can select which Gmail you’ll use. Pinterest logins this can always be changed later on. Select continue with Google. Pinterest will prompt you to choose which Google account to use (if you have saved passwords in your browser.) This is convenient if you’re a big Chrome user. That way you don’t have to remember another password, but it is not secure.

Pinterest Admin Login

Pinterest business accounts can add on an account manager. The owner of the Pinterest business account can grant permission to someone else so they can help manage the account including saving pins and running Promoted Pins.
